When my friend asked for a commission painting for her husband, I should have predicted that it would be another iris painting as he loves them too. Here's the result.

Desert Morning II

My friend in Illinois fell in love with Desert Morning, but wanted an original in a bigger size. "No problem, I'll re-create it!" I said. "If you love a topic, there's only positives in doing it again." This version of Desert Morning shows you where I am with my art now using an underpainting. I love it, too.

Spring Irises

I arrived in Illinois this spring to find a lovely bunch of irises growing at the edge of the woods by my home. There was no choice but to try capturing them in a painting. In this pastel I wanted to capture the cool shades of early spring along with the hints of a warm summer to come. Irises only last for a short time, but they always remind me of the promises of a fresh start.

Desert Morning

There is something magical about the morning light in the desert.

The Gift

Working in pastel has been an unexpected delight for me. It truly has been a gift.

Here I Go!

It was a breathless moment....that first time down his new slide. What fun!

St. Eze, France

When we visited St. Eze, France, we arrived in the morning with the sun shining brightly. Everywhere I looked there were bougainvillea blooms and shuttered windows. I couldn't resist capturing them in pastel.
